OK, to get a clear starting point:. NAS got reset to factory defaults. The NAS is attached to your router (that D-Link thingy). NAS obtains no IP at all Found this on google, . In that thread, RabanePaco posted: ' Problem seems solved! First my stupid part: my NAS probably was unreachable because the cable was out of my router.

This probably caused a lot of my hassle. Possibly the NAS would have worked after a simple factory reset with a cable.

I removed the drive watch out: my factory installed drive had one of those securing screws at the side of the drive. You can't simple pull out the drive from the front, as described in the quick start guide. You have to dismantle the whole NAS from the front and the back. Not complicated but unexpected. Without drive I could start the NAS (connected to the router).

Reinstalled the drive, possibly factory reset it once more, and bingo! Only had to reinstall all the settings. All shares had to be made public again and shared (!!!). Auto Daylight Savings Time doesn't work correctly; had to set and use manual DST. For a factory reset you have to keep the reset button pushed down a very long time. Many, many beeps!

SqueezeBox (Logitech media) Server and PhP-MySQL server had to be reinstalled again. Firmware 4.4 requires re-installation of all packages! Installation seems to take much longer as previous firmware versions, so be patient).

Had to rescan my library twice (first time no albums in LMS; don't know why. Now it is o.k. Only still have to get ffp plugin going. Whole works with Firmware 4.4.' Don't know if there's any truth behind, but have seen a NAS before that didn't boot up at all with a drive installed. So maybe just remove the drive(s) and issue another factory reset.
